Dutch and Frugal go hand in hand!

- The temperature is so low in your house that 2 sweaters is a bare minimum if you want to be remotely warm.

- In the winter it is warmer outside then it is inside.

- You open the freezer and are excited to find a container of ice cream, only to open it and discover it's full of homemade soup or stamppot.

- When looking in the fridge, you never trust that the yogurt or margarine containers contain what the label says.

- You were "green" before it was popular. Why recycle when you can just reuse!

- You wash and reuse plastic cups and plastic cutlery.

- You have soup and open faced sandwiches for Sunday lunch.

- The most frequent phrase uttered growing up was "TURN OFF THE LIGHTS!!"

- All the tables in your house are covered in tablecloths.

- You collect coupons like they're going out of style.

- You've been known to recycle aluminum foil and Ziploc bags.

- You reuse teabags.

- When you hear all the new ways of saving energy, you yawn and say "I've been doing that all my life"!

- You eat your sandwiches open faced. "What? You want another slice of bread? I'll make you another sandwich"

- You rarely have meat and cheese on the same sandwich.

- You have 100 rolls of toilet paper in your house--because it was on sale.

- You put a little water into a jar of tomato sauce and shake it to make sure you got it all out.

- You have trouble shopping for hats. There should be at least two sizes: 'one size fits all' and 'Dutch'.

- You wipe the last of the butter out of the container with your BUN.

- You make the bed in your hotel room.

- Your kitchen is filled with milk bags drying, waiting to be reused in the freezer.

- Your favorite mustard comes in jars that can be reused as drinking glasses.

- You leave a window opened all year to get fresh air.

- You have a vegetable garden because there is no way you're paying that much for veggies at the grocery store.

- Your fridge is stocked with leftovers. Throw out food? NEVER!

- You go to the "Dutch store" because the smell brings back so many childhood memories.

- Everything is do-it-yourself - it's cheaper then hiring someone.

Deli Meats!

Oh yummy delicious Deli Meats...Ham, Roast Beef and Turkey are my favorite...
Sometimes I forget to add the bread cause they are so yummy to much on!
But no way I am putting down that kinda money!

A Different way;

Invest in a Meat Slicer a GOOD one will cost you about $99
Meat Slicer

Following your favorite recipe; oven bake your Turkey Breast, Roast Beef, Chicken Breast or whatever your desire is!

Cool it down completely in aluminum foil (to keep the juices in)

And slice it !!

I guarantee you it will taste better and you can freeze it because it is fresh !

Deli Meat starting at $ 0.99 a LBS

Chicken Broth and Entree in one!

The average Chicken Broth out of a box will cost you $2.24 !

A different way:
Buy spliced Chicken Breast. At about $2.25 a lbs it is 50% cheaper then Chicken breasts!

Cut of the skin and Breast. Clean the bone with water and make sure no weird stuff is there.  (I’d like to take all the fat off so I get a nice clean broth
Drop it in boiling water,
cut up
a large carrot,
1 small onion OR leek
1 Roma tomato,
twig of Celery
add  ½ tsp of dried Oregano (that will make that nasty boiled chicken smell disappear!)
1 bay leaf

Take of the foam that will appear and discard.
Boil for 30-45 minutes.
Add salt to taste, drain and tadaaaaa Chicken Broth!
And with the Breast you can make an entrée!!!
